Jesus Behind the Scenes

As I walk through the hallways of my high school every morning of the week as a new Grade 9, it seems kind of surreal to think that I'm part of this huge community of individuals, who are in most ways so totally disconnected from each other. Starting from smaller beginnings, in a school of 150 students total, it's a huge step to walk into an institution of 1000 students, and learn to thrive amongst the "hectic-ness" and "hugeness" of this new life, basically.
Some days I just spend my free minutes wandering 3rd floor, watching people from a distance. It's slightly liberating to simply stand on the sidelines of such a group of people, and know that no one cares you're there, and no one's watching you suspiciously, because no one knows you! However, there's always the loneliness panging at the inside of you, just realizing that you're only one little fish in a big pond. Sometimes, being our selfish selves, we think, "Don't these people know who I am?", as if we were royalty, or celebrities. We each, as individuals, have so much to offer, with the gifts and abilities God has given us, but it seems virtually impossible to shine through, and make a difference for Christ.
But then I think, "What did Jesus go through, when he walked through the streets of Samaria, Judea, even his hometown of Nazareth as a young person, and have very few see him for who he really was; the Son of Almighty God!" And more amazingly than that, that he didn't get right in their face, as many of us would, and just scream at them, "Don't you see who I am!!" In his power and authority, he most likely had the right to say that. But he remained completely humble, and acted as a regular human would, until His Father claimed it was the due time to begin His ministry.
But don't you think, if Jesus wasn't so humble about who he was in the beginning, would the cross have had as much meaning? Would the centurion have whispered in the silence, "Surely this man was the Son of God!"? At that moment in time, would as many people come to belief in who Jesus really was, rather than if Christ had shouted it from the rooftops of every church in the city? It just gives us a big picture of the greatness and majestly of all-powerful God, coming down to meet us where we were, to one day take us to where He is! Glory to God!
